This microcredential is a two course sequence that examines the chemical and physiological properties of active compounds in medicinal plants, including cannabis. It examines the laws and regulations governing the Cannabis and Natural Products Industries and discusses how these laws differ from laws regulating prescription drugs. Upon completion students will have hands-on experience with the laboratory techniques needed to process plants, and extract and isolate active compounds found in cannabis and various medicinal plants.
Students in this microcredential must have completed a two semester Organic Chemistry sequence with Labs (e.g., CHE 201, CHE 202, CHE 203, and CHE 204, or equivalent).
